Bob and I were up early but in no hurry. We enjoyed our coffee and breakfast. Bob went back for a nap while I did some reading.

I decided to visit the privy over near the lean to. The two women staying there were making breakfast. after a short chat I found the privy. it is a “thunder box” – essentially an outhouse with no walls. the lid, about 2 x 3 feet, opens up providing a little privacy if it faces the right direction. This one did not.

Bob and I packed up and got a late start since it was only another five mile day. The trail followed Cedar River. About half way we came to a campsite where we stopped for lunch. There were more ups and downs than yesterday but still mild by Appalachian Trail standards.

We arrived at Cedar Lakes #1 Lean To around two thirty. We found a couple tent sites by the lake, filtered water, washed up and tried a little fishing. My tenkara rod seems more suited for moving water. After losing a fly and untangling a knot I decided to enjoy a snack and work on this blog update. Listening to more loons on the lake.

After dinner another two tree bear hang. Not optimal but it should keep the chipmunks away. There is a chipmunk here that keeps coming right up to us probably looking to get fed. Sounds like we will have a loon serenade tonight.

Only other hikers we saw today were an older couple with their daughter. One other guy came by the lean to looking for a campsite. today was mostly overcast and cool. Last night it got down to 42. I wonder if tonight will be cooler since we have a breeze. Nice sleeping weather even if it is chilly when we get up.
