Another night as the only hiker at the shelter. I slept in this morning. Actually, I just stayed in my warm, cozy tent. Out at 7:30.

Today I passed Gray Beard heading north. He is a 90 year old thru hiker trying to set the AT age record. He has someone driving a pickup camper supporting him. Looked like he was carrying more than a daypack.

The sun came out today and warmed things up. Saw my first eft, a bright orange newt. While at a peak, I checked the weather and there is a thunderstorm forecast. I picked up the pace and arrived before any rain. Another bridge out sign with a warning about high water. I kept my feet dry on this one. The shelter is on the other side. I settled into the shelter not wanting to pack a wet tent. Soon, Green Bean, came in. She is from California and completing a thru hike she started last year. Two guys and a lady came into the shelter. They are hiking the Long Trail. The Long Trail and the AT are one for about 100 miles. I’ve met more Long Trail hikers than AT hikers.

Not sure if anyone else will join us five in the shelter tonight. After six, no more hikers. Cool, with a pretty good rain.
