Dolora and I met Diane and Tom at breakfast and decided to take a walk to the river together, On our way I snapped a picture of the outside of the Alcazar. The Alcazar was used in filming indoor and outdoor scenes for Game of Thrones. Every time we walk by, it reminds me of the TV series. Our next sight was the Torre del Oro, Tower of Gold, named for the view at sunset and not the precious metal. Ships were taxed at the tower as they entered Sevilla. We entered Maria Luisa Park which was fortunately shaded and soon arrived at the Plaza de Espana. The square and buildings were built for the 1929 world’s fair which was interrupted by the Great Depression. There we were treated to flamenco by street performers.
After rambling our way back to the center of town, it was time for lunch at Bar Postiguillo where Dolora and I shared tapas with Diane and Tom. It turns out that the food was so good that we returned there for dinner. Not as many hanging hams but the walls had many mounted bull heads. On our walk back, the door to the cathedral was open and you could get a little look at the inside. A service was going on with chanting and burning incense. A short stroll so Diane could make her step count and back to the hotel where we said our goodbyes since they are leaving tomorrow. Diane and Tom have been wonderful travel partners.
Dolora and I get to sleep in again on our last day in Spain. We will try to get tickets to get into the cathedral when it opens and otherwise just find a few more sights. Today was 90 and tomorrow is predicted to be 95 so the cathedral would be a nice cool place to visit.
