Northville Placid Trail – Day 8 – Lakeside Cabin

Sunday, 24 August

Last night around midnight was a loud thunderstorm. Lots of lightning and thunder with sheets of rain. It was a good night to be in a cabin.

Bob and I were up early as usual. Coffee was setup the night before so that was only to flip a switch. Bob brought some zucchini bread and cream cheese for our breakfast before real breakfast at the inn at 9:00. No rushing today. Breakfast was again, all you can eat – scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage, French toast and more coffee. You can tell we appreciate real food again at the end of all our hikes.

We headed over to the store to pick up some food for dinner tomorrow, after having the leftover pizza from last night for today’s dinner. We grabbed a sandwich for lunch and some missed fresh fruit. Tomorrow’s dinner is chili dogs and some fresh corn. The rest of the day was spent enjoying the comfort of the cabin, reading and walking up to the inn to connect to email and WiFi. No cell service here. It was a nice day, warm in the sun and a little cool in the shade but a little breezy which kept us from taking out a canoe for some fishing. Plan is to take the canoe out tomorrow morning before the wind picks up.

Bob and I explored a bit checking out the campsites that are part of the inn facilities. Dinner was reheated pizza with a pumpkin ale and ice cream for dessert. My favorite after hiking treat is ice cream. (Also during hiking treat if I can find it!)
