Destination: Sones Pond Campsite | Today’s Miles: 11.5 |
Start Location: Loyalsock Vista Canyon Trail Campsite | Trip Miles: 53.5 |
Last night was a little cloudy. Thermometer said the low was 52 but it was 60 when Bob and I woke up. Since we had our longest day planned that was before sunrise.
We started off with a view of World’s End State Park before entering the park. From there it was down to the Visitors Center where we took a break before crossing the Loyalsock on a road and starting our big climb of the day. After that there were only a few short climbs. We passed over the top of a waterfall with no good view.
Since rain is in the overnight forecast we decided to make today a little longer and finish up earlier tomorrow. Bob and I are camping on the shore of beautiful Sone Pond tonight. No other campers nearby.
We saw a couple and three guys backpacking. That’s more hikers than we’ve seen all week. Today’s accent was over 2,000 feet during our eleven and a half miles, our longest day.
