I’m trying something a little different this time. I found an app that will transcribe my voice while offline. So maybe these blogs will be a little longer paired.

Today started with my last hot shower for a week. Then, Bob and Linda and I had a little breakfast, and Bob and I headed over to the coffee shop. I said my goodbye, and then I headed over to the parking lot to wait for my shuttle driver.

My shuttle to Vermont turned out to be interesting. Bob, my driver brought his dog along. We had to make a bathroom stop for the dog. Bob didn’t use GPS for directions and asked me how to get there. Anyway, we arrived at the inn around 10:30.

I had a half-mile side trail to reach the Appalachian Trail. Somehow I started off on the wrong path, I quickly found my way back to the trail, a reminder to make sure to look for blazes, and the trail is usually pretty well worn.

It looks like water and bugs will be plentiful on this trip. I did find a nice spot to soak my foot in the cold water. During the day I passed one southbound hiker, two northbound hikers and a trail crew. Nobody here at the shelter when I arrived.

I got into camp early about three o’clock. I set up my tent on a platform and relaxed for a while. Tomorrow will be a longer day with lots of climbs.

Got my bear bag hung with the first throw, that’s always nice. Nobody here by six at the shelter, I maybe the only one here up on the tent site.

I expect to have internet almost every night to be able to update the text for the blog. But I’m not sure how strong the signal will be whether I can upload pictures or not. If you click on the picture at the bottom of the update, it will open an an album that plays a slideshow or you can scroll the pictures yourself.
