I was alone in the shelter last night. Heavy rain started around eleven and continued all night. That confirmed, my decision to stay in the shelter instead of tenting. I expected the rain to stop in the afternoon. I planned a later start, but I was still hiking by seven in the rain. Two long ascents, one six hundred feet, one thirteen hundred feet, made for a tough morning.

Today’s highlights included an area called White Rocks with a sort of rock garden, check the pictures. The trail was wet from all the rain. Much like walking in a stream in sections. I tried to keep my feet as dry as I could. But then I came upon a stream that had a sign that the bridge was out. They marked a path to cross, but the sign said, be careful in high water. I waded across the slippery rocks in knee-deep rapids. So much for trying to keep my feet and shoes dry.

As I got close to the shelter area, I saw a group of seven lady slippers, beautiful. I’m warm and dry in my tent near the lake, by the shelter. It’s very cool and windy. I’m trying to dry out my wet clothes.

No internet tonight to get this out. Last I checked, the weather looks like it should be dry for a couple days. Still have no signal strong enough to send pictures.
