He was nice sleeping next to the sound of the stream. It never got chilly. About two, a brief shower came by, but everything was dry in the morning. I think it got warmer after the rain.

I was hiking before seven. The first couple miles followed the Cold River. The river lived up to its name when I soaked my feet last night. I had a weak cell  signal, but I was able to get yesterday’s blog out.

Today’s highlights included: mile steep downhill rock scramble, climbing down over boulders. The next highlight was a suspension bridge over Mill River. Today’s flowers included Lady Slip. There was a pile of turkey feathers in the middle the of the trail. probably the work of a fox. Today was lots of ups and downs with plenty of rocks. A bunch of section hikers. One woman thru hiker slack packing the whole trail with her parents driving each day.

I’m staying inside the shelter tonight. It is supposed to rain all night. I don’t like packing up s wet tent. A couple guys thru hiking the Long Trail stopped by for a late lunch at 4, otherwise no company yet. The rain continues on and off, still no one showed up at the shelter by six.
