It poured overnight. Glad to be warm and dry in the shelter. The group of three hikers mentioned that they hiked through two inches of wet snow on Stratton Mountain. Mornings have been cool. Woke up to a cool mist and out by seven for a six hundred foot climb to start the day.
Lots of moose poop on the trail today but no moose. Hiked through the top of Bromley ski area. About six or eight college kids came up the trail. When I arrived at the shelter it started to rain and then hail. Made my decision to stay in the shelter again. I imagine the college kids were not to happy getting caught in the storm.
Saw about six long distance hikers today. Gumby is staying in the shelter tonight. He expects two other hikers but no one has shown up yet. Sun is out for the moment.
